Frequently asked questions:
Q: How long before my wedding should I book a wedding photographer?
A: This will depend a lot on what time of the year you are getting married. If it is during the high season, March to September, it is always best to book your photographer 12 to 18 months before the date, to ensure you get the photographer you really want.
But, I would advise that it is best to always book your photographer well in advance, to make sure you get who you want.
Q. Why should I book a professional photographer?
A: Wedding photography is my fulltime job and I have years of experience recognising what will work and what won’t for each couple, location or venue and lighting condition I encounter.
I use professional Canon equipment and I am used to putting people at ease, when in front of the camera and my aim really, is to be as invisible as possible, so I can move among the guests and capture the pure emotions and joy of the day.
Q. How many photographers will be covering my wedding?
A: There will only be one photographer at your wedding. I do not employ freelance photographers.
Q. How many photographs will be in my online gallery?
A: This will depend entirely on the length of coverage you have booked, it will range from approx. 200 for a four hour wedding package to approx. 400 for an eight hour wedding package.
All images from the day will be individually processed and those that don’t make the grade will not be included in the final gallery, as only the best images will be showcased.
Images will be in either Black and White, or in colour. This is dependent on which will suit the mood and the emotions of the individual image.
All images will be presented in my Photocart and you will, from there, be able to choose which images you wish to appear in your album. Once your album layout has been approved, you will receive a disk of the images for the album on a CD with High Resolution Images to print as you wish.
Q: Is it possible for some photographs of just the two of us?
A: I normally take the two of you away for some private time before you really get into the swing of your reception and shortly after the group shots.
This could be done shortly after you arrive at your reception venue and have greeted your guests, or you can choose to take this time before announcing yourselves at the reception. We will arrange this, once I know the timings of day.
Most couples really enjoy this time to themselves and this allows them to come back down to earth from the emotion of the wedding ceremony and to really enjoy the feeling of being married.
Q. What about group shots?
A: These will be done either at the church or at the reception venue, which ever you prefer and which venue will be more suitable.
As my style is documentary and because I will take the two of you away from your guests for approx 30 mins, I request that you keep group shots to an absolute minimum and I suggest a maximum of 12 groups or less.
This will also free up my time to move amongst you and your guests and capture the emotions and the joy experienced by everyone who has come to celebrate your commitment to each other.
Q: How long after the wedding day will it take before we can see our photographs?
A: By the Wednesday of the following week, I will place a selection of images on my Blog. I will also create a slideshow of selected images from the various parts of the day on my Galleries Page.
The rest of the images will be made available to view within 14 days, or if you are away on honeymoon for longer than 14 days, on the day you return.
You will have a choice of whether you want your gallery password protected or not. If so, I will email you a link and the password and then you can pass link and password on to your friends and family.
Q: Where can prints be purchased from?
A: Prints can be purchased from your online gallery.
Q: How long will it take for my album to be ready?
A: Once you have chosen the images for the album, it will take approx. 7 days to produce the layout.
Once the layout has been finally approved by you, it will take from 4 to 6 weeks for the final album to be produced.
Once I have received the album, you can then decide whether you wish to collect the album from me or to have it shipped to you. However, I always suggest that the album be picked up to avoid any damage by the shipping company.
Q: Can I upgrade my wedding package after making a booking?
A: Yes you can always upgrade or add additional items to your package.
However, you cannot downgrade your package.
Q: Can I post my wedding photographs on my website, blog or Facebook?
A: All images taken at your wedding are copyrighted and you will need my permission to display them online.
I will be happy to let you have web ready images to use on Facebook etc, but I request that you do not try to remove the logo and give me the credit for all my hard work.
Q: Can I get a disk to print my own photographs and do I own the Copyright?
A: I offer a package that includes a disk of all images from the day with Printing Rights (not Copyright) or if you want this as an addition to your package, you can request it at the time of booking.
No, you do not then own the Copyright, you will get Printing Rights Only. I will always retain the Copyright to any images/photographs that I take.
Q: What is a Photo Booth?
A: A Photo Booth is a studio like setup in a covered, dry area, with a backdrop and studio lights, where your guests can have their photographs taken, whilst being serious or acting silly.
These photographs are paid for at the time and will be posted, once printed by my professional laboratory.
Q: I would like you to cover my wedding, what do I do next?
A: You can either contact me by using my Contact Page or call me on the number at the top right of the page, to find out if I am available.
Most couples come to see me before booking, so that they can view completed albums and a slideshow, but this is not a must.
To finalise a booking, I will require a £400 retainer and a completed booking form to secure the date.
Once the booking has been finalised, we will arrange a convenient time to meet for your Pre Wedding shoot. This will enable us to get to know each other and get you used to having a camera pointed at you.
From the Pre Wedding shoot, you will be able to choose one image in 7.5X5 inch format as a framed desk print.
You could also use one of these images for a Signature Board, which is a mount board with an image in the centre. This is placed on an easel and your guests sign the board instead of a Guest Book.
This Signature Board is then framed behind UV resistant glass and you can hang it on a wall for a permanent reminder of who was at your wedding.
